Game Description:

Minecraft is a sandbox game which allows players to build


constructions out of textured cubes in a 3D world. It is currently in


development by Markus "Notch" Persson. The gameplay is inspired by Dwarf


Fortress, RollerCoaster Tycoon, Dungeon Keeper, and especially


Infiniminer Minecraft has two variants, Alpha and Classic, both with


single- and multiplayer options. Classic includes only the building aspects of


the game with unlimited blocks, while Alpha includes monsters and a much


greater variety of crafting available, as well as requiring players to mine


their own blocks. Alpha is currently the latest release of Minecraft, and


plans to move into beta sometime in October 2010. Minecraft was developed for


about a week before its public release on May 16, 2009 on the TIGSource


forums, where it gained a considerable level of popularity. It has been


continually updated since then.

How To Install:

1 - Run the right batch file for your system(eg. PrepareWIN.bat for Windows,


or PrepareLIN.sh for linux, and PrepareOSX.sh for Mac OS)


2 - Open OpenMinecraft.jar with Java(most


systems you can do it just by double-click)

Manual installation instructions:

The batch files just copy game binaries to the usual Minecraft folder:


Windows: %appdata%\.minecraft\bin


Mac OS: ~/Library/Application Support/minecraft/bin


Linux: ~/.minecraft/bin

Tested on Windows 7, Mac OS 10.6.4 and Ubuntu Linux.





These are official Minecraft Alpha binaries downloaded from minecraft.net


October 9 2010. But I created a launcher for the game, so you can play offline


with no worries of getting past login screen.





I even created an launcher that updates the game from the official site


automatically, but I don't plan to release it... yet!


Although the OpenMinecraft.jar packed here might work with every new


version that might come in future.





So, basically when a new version of Minecraft comes out, you can search for


it and install manually(those that comes with a BIN folder), and the launcher


packed here(step 2) will work with them too, no configuration needed.

Detailed instructions for Mac OS X users that find it difficult:

To run PrepareOSX.sh, probably you need to do it by Terminal.


1 - Open Spotlight


2 - Type Terminal and open it.


3 - Go to MinecraftSingle folder, type:


"cd" without quotes, press spacebar, then drag and drop MinecraftSingle folder


to Terminal window, then press enter.


4 - Make PrepareOSX.sh executable, type:


"chmod +x PrepareOSX.sh" (without quotes)


5 - Now, execute the batch, type:


./PrepareOSX.sh


6 - Done! now you can run the launcher.
