 MICROSOFT VISUAL BASIC 2005 EXPRESS WITH SERVICE PACK 1 This is the free, old and hard to find version of Microsoft's Visual Basic which is no longer available on their website. Optional components like MSDN documentation (rather incomplete anyway) and SQL Server Express were removed to make ISO smaller (from 435 MB to 49 MB). You can skip leeching .NET Framework 2 SP2 if you already have .NET Framework 2 installed (it is included in Vista and Seven) or you want to download it from the net. Service Pack 1 for VB is also optional but I recommend it. On systems prior to XP SP2, you may have to install some system updates (service pack 3 or 4 for windows 2000, Windows Installer 3). On newer operating systems (Vista and Seven) you may encounter issues if you skip installing Service Pack 1 for VB. The first time Visual Basic is started, it takes more time because it auto-configures itself. Enjoy
