Description
The process of telling stories through pictures is similar for both concept design and book illustration. In this video, film design veteran Christian Alzmann will take you through a step-by-step process for making a digital illustration. He will demonstrate his techniques for creating strong compositions, blocking in shapes with light and shadow, handling background elements and applying color. Throughout the lecture, Christian shares his thought processes as he reworks compositional elements, renders reflected light and strengthens the main characterï¿¢ï¾ï¾s pose, showing you the benefits of painting digitally in Adobe Photoshopï¿ï¾® and Corel Painter.

About Christian Alzmann
Christian Alzmann studied illustration at the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena. Upon graduating he was immediately hired into Industrial Light & Magic's art department. Currently he is a Senior Art Director there and has worked on numerous film projects including A.I., Men in Black 2, Van Helsing, Pirates of the Caribbean, Star Wars # Episode Two, War of the Worlds, the fourth installment of Indiana Jones, Transformers # and Terminator Salvation. As a visual storyteller Christian has also illustrated book covers for Science Fiction and Fantasy novels. His clients include Harper Collins, Penguin Books, IDG and Future Publishing.
