Encounters was a surreal drama series on BBC2 in the early nineties which as far as I know has never been repeated. 

The Other Side presented Sir Arthur Conan Doyle coming face to face with his most famous creation and being forced to examine the darker side of his life and career. 

The play is particularly interesting because it's the only occasion on which Richard E Grant played the detective, a part which many Holmes fans think he's perfect for.
