GTA IV HACKERS GUIDE TO THE GALAXY - PROBABLY THE MOST COMPLETE GTA IV BUGFIX LIST ON THE INTERNETZ

INSTALL INSTRUCTIONS (recheck maybe u missed something)

- get a good torrent ( mine & tested is: http://www.xxxxxxxx.org/tor/2053233) replace xes with mininova
- install with daemon tools, skip activation, after install do not start!
- copy & overwrite files from crack folder
- launch game without internet connection - plug out internet cable every time you play or ..
  optionally use a firewall program, I use and recommend NETLIMITER - it will ask you what applications should connect to the internet, deny all gta executables

MISSING TEXTURES PROBLEM

first of all (this fixed it for me)
SUPERFETCH SOLUTION:
if you have vista and you tried everything from updating video drivers (mine is nvidia beta 180.84) to launching the game with command line 
parameters and nothing works BUT YOU HAVE DISABLED VISTA SUPERFETCH - ENABLE IT - THIS DOES THE TRICK !!!

COMMAND LINE PARAMETERS (THIS TXT FILE VERSION ONLY WORKS WITH THIS [FED0R] CRACK)
Missing textures happen to people with under 1gb video memory (allmost everyone) and you probably have texture quality set to low or medium by default..
My video card is geforce 8600gt with 256mb so if you have something similar (good video proc but low video ram) or even if you dont you could try this:
Create a file named "commandline.txt" and put it in the game folder (next to LaunchGTAIV.exe)
in that file copy paste this:
-width 1024 -height 768 -refreshrate 85 -texturequality 0 -renderquality 2 -viewdistance 1 -shadowdensity 5 -norestrictions -nomemrestrict -percentvidmem 100

OTHER FIXES 
also you can try (if you have not allready) to:
- update to latest video driver
- disable ingame recorder

LEAST PROBABLE FIX (but most seen on the internets, I tried this also unsuccessfully):

-Download RivaTuner 2.2 from here: http://www.guru3d.com/news/download--rivatuner-
220-released/ ( if you had problems installing Rivatuner220 on x64 systems u need the additional file called RivaTuner220Drv.rtu - only the download location above has this file)

-Install it and run it. 

-On the 'Main' tab, there will be a section titled 'Driver Settings' with ForceWare detected displayed below that. Click the build button to the right of it to open a menu with 5 icons.

-From this set of icon, choose "Reset all driver settings to their default values'.

-Do not modify any other settings using RivaTuner. Now launch the game.

WOBBLY CAM + CRAZY CAR PROBLEM

this is obviously not a bug but some anti-crack bullshit done by R* to annoy illegal gamers..
THE CRACK INCLUDED IN THIS TORRENT FIXED THIS FOR ME
some users fixed this by setting RGSCLauncher.exe to windows 2000 compatibility (right-click - properties - compatibility) but that brings us to another (potential) problem:

CANNOT SAVE GAME

you must log on to windows live (disable internet first even with firewall) and create an offline account - this should do the trick

SAVED SETTINGS WILL NOT STAY SAVED
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Navigate to the GTA 4 settings folder (in Vista it is: "C:\Users\YOURUSERNAME\AppData\Local\Rockstar Games\GTA IV\Settings")
Delete the 3 files inside this folder. Do not delete any other folders as the saves and any custom music you placed are also stored here.
Restart the game and configure your display settings for one last time.
